Carboneros Buena Onda: initiatives that bring us closer to Salaverry

A relationship with a community is built through presence, listening and continuity. In Salaverry, SESUVECA del Perú runs Carboneros Buena Onda, its social responsibility program, which brings together education, health and community-space initiatives in coordination with local institutions and residents.

Carboneros Buena Onda: initiatives that bring us closer to Salaverry

Education: ongoing school support

The program brings efforts together to meet concrete needs of the communities near our operation. Educational activities, health campaigns and community interventions offer different opportunities to collaborate and maintain a close relationship with the area.

In 2026, the Vacaciones Útiles – School Tutoring program held its fourth consecutive edition, with more than 270 students from Salaverry taking part in Mathematics and Communication activities.

The initiative provides a learning space during the school holidays and supports families in strengthening their children's education. Its continuity sustains this educational support and keeps the bond with the school community.

Health: free medical care with local institutions

Through Cuidémonos, SESUVECA coordinates free medical care days for families in Villa Marina and nearby areas.

In its fourth edition, reported in October 2025, the campaign provided more than 250 medical consultations, in coordination with Hospital Walter Cruz Vilca and the María Montessori school. The day included pediatrics, dentistry, nutrition and general medicine services, as well as eye tests and immunizations.

Working together with health and education institutions brings these services closer to the community and promotes prevention and family care.

Escobas Azules: working together to improve community spaces

Through Escobas Azules, SESUVECA takes part in cleaning and improving community spaces, in coordination with residents and local institutions.

One of these interventions took place at the entrance of the María Montessori school in Villa Marina, with teachers, parents and neighbors. SESUVECA provided machinery and a water tanker to help level the ground, remove accumulated material and improve the entrance.

These actions have a concrete scope: to help care for and improve spaces used by the community. They complement the company's community relations and serve a different purpose from the environmental controls that apply to its operation.

Participation and access to information

A relationship with the surrounding community also needs spaces to learn about the operation and ask questions. With that aim, SESUVECA has promoted participatory environmental monitoring days with authorities and representatives of nearby communities.

These spaces seek to make environmental assessment processes easier to understand and to gather participants' questions. Their value also depends on follow-up: explaining the scope of the assessments, sharing the available information and addressing the concerns raised.

Gatherings that keep the bond alive

Carboneros Buena Onda includes community activities such as Vivamos la Navidad, whose 2025 edition brought together children and families from Salaverry for a day of recreation.

These gatherings complement the education, health and community participation initiatives, keeping opportunities to connect with families in the district.

For SESUVECA, giving continuity to this work means coordinating with local stakeholders, listening to their needs and clearly communicating what has been done. That is the approach behind Carboneros Buena Onda: developing concrete initiatives together with the community and keeping spaces for collaboration and dialogue open.
